How to create an Easter cheese and chocolate tasting board

There is something ingenious about putting cheese and chocolate on the same board – even if we do say so ourselves. The right combinations sharpen, soften and deepen each other in unexpected ways for a real conversation starter. When you’re hosting friends and family at Easter, our Cheese & Chocolate Tasting Basket gives you everything you need to build an interactive sharing board that everyone will love.

Inside, you’ll find four of our signature cheeses and four carefully matched chocolates crafted by our friends at Willie’s Cacao. When you lay them out, use varied cheese cuts for visual flair – and give each pairing its own zone on a large serving board so guests can taste them as intended. (For more tips about how to create the cheese cuts for this board, click on our cheese-cutting guide.)

Black Bomber + Surabaya Gold 69% cacao dark chocolate

Black Bomber is rich and savoury with a long, creamy finish, while this high-cacao dark chocolate introduces caramel notes and a subtle minerality that keeps the pairing in balance. This sweet and salty combination has a surprising hint of fruit cake.

Cheese cut: Valley

Green Thunder + Ginger Lime 70% cacao dark chocolate

The Baracoa-bean dark chocolate’s exotic lime oil and crystallised ginger bring a cheerful freshness to the sweet roasted garlic and aromatic garden herbs of this mature Cheddar, balancing zingy, herbaceous and creamy flavours.

Cheese cut: Ridges

Red Storm + Milk Of The Gods 44% cacao milk chocolate

The complex, nutty flavours and slightly crystalline texture of our vintage Red Leicester meet their match in the equally nutty and subtle roasted-coffee notes of this smooth single-estate milk chocolate.

Cheese cut: Plinths

Red Devil + El Blanco 36% cacao white chocolate

This sublimely smooth white chocolate is an inspired match for our fiery Red Leicester with Habanero chillies and peppers. Mingling velvety sweetness with lively spiciness, this is a pairing you’ll return to again and again.

Cheese cut: Peaks

Finish with freshness
Once the cheeses and chocolates are in place, scatter the board with green olives, nuts and fresh fruit and vegetables to add colour and crunch. We love adding celery sticks, cucumber batons, crisp apple wedges, grapes, radishes, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, walnuts and apricot halves to create a real Easter feast. Break the chocolate into shards and chunks rather than uniform squares, place a small knife with each cheese and this abundant board is ready to serve.
